Go back to? 16:9 resolution has always been and will always be 854x480 for 480p encodes. Nothing about RMZ's encode setting have changed. The source video may be low quality, but it's not RMZ at fault here.
This one looks like a typical 480p release to me.

Not remotely true.

This release of IKWYDLS is 1150X480 & looks pretty great for the file size:

Up until a couple of months ago, most 480p releases here were around 1100x480 or 1200x480 & much better quality. Some of the newer ones (like IKWYDLS) are a higher resolution, but more & more seem to be in low-res 854x480 (& with much lower bitrates to make the files even smaller). The 480p of Eenie Meanie was a blurry mess & borderline unwatchable in places.

But hey, I guess I shouldn't be complaining. It's all free...

Your counter example of 1150x480 is not an example of 16:9 but 2.40:1
But still 480p.
480 vertical (height) lines of pixels and 1150 horizontal(width)lines of pixels. Doesn't make it higher resolution, just a widescreen presentation.
Do you really want RMTeam to streeeeetch the video out wide screen? Make everything short and fat?
I know you're joking, because the alternative is really sad.
If you want higher resolution go for a 1280x720 16:9 encode or even 1920x1080.
1280x533 if widescreen and the black bars are cropped or 1920x800 if widescreen and the black bars are cropped.
Much better "resolution".
More pixels makes better picture quality, n'est-ce pas?

Certainly more bit rate plays a big part in the quality of the encode, but we weren't talking about bit rate.

I agree with you about PSA. However, they don't use bots and adjust the CRF when necessary. In a note on their site, they tell how they watch the video once or twice in high speed to get an idea of the settings they should use and go from there. I don't know if I buy that, but they definitely do tinker with the settings. I think they might even encode one, though it away, re-calibrate the settings and go again.

As long as RMZ uses bots, there's no chance that the settings will change from video to video. I'm watching some RMTeam 480p encodes right now that are astonishing. Some, on the other hand are meh.

I agree that the size of the source dictates the frame size of the video encoded. You haven't lost your mind after all.

I've shifted from 480P x264 to 720P x265 myself. PSA is my main source for encodes these days. Sadly they only do a few of the releases that come out each day, so I have to scrounge up something to watch or do the encode myself (my idea of relaxing).

I use rlsbb all the time. PSA doesn't have everything I need. Current example: Atomic. But I have endless choice at rlsbb. That's where I get my 1080p x264 videos to encode my own.
I find PSA encodes almost everywhere now. I do try to get from them and help support the site. They are one of, if not the best site for stuff like this.

Trying to makes sense of what "et tu, brute" was meant to mean. As French is my first language, as it stands, "et tu, brute" is not "are you Brutus"; it means NOTHING. It's funny how 3 short words and one punctuation can go so wrong!
Brute just means "brute": let's assume he really meant that word. As is, it looks like "AND you, brute" on account of the period, and because it does not contain a verb (and "Et" is literally "and". This would also require a different punctuation, since not a question. So instead of the question mark, another period could be used, if meant to open a longer sentence ("And you, brute,...), or just punctuation mark, if meant as attention grabber only "Hey you, brute!" But still, either way-> "Et toi, brute" would require "toi" not "tu" for the "you" (since "tu" in only used as a verb subject.)

If he meant to say "ARE you" (a question) it would now be "tu", as in "ES-tu", "es" being the second person singular present tense of "etre",verb). Here, the "tu" works with the "es", but to mean "are you a brute?" the "a" missing! "Brute" being a feminine word (whether the brute in question is male or female) it requires "une", the feminine version of "a": "Es-tu une brute?"

In short, whether he's calling you a brute or asking you if you are one, it's not working out. In any case, If one is using an insult, best to stick to one's own language, or it may backfire

As for "Ciao bello" it's a tad funny seems Ciao is more of a "hi!" -> Arrivederce being "bye". But hey, it's just trying to be light fun, I think. Still, If I just planted a Auf Wiedersehen good looking" you'd probably wonder what I was on, No? I never took Kenny for a troll though, IDK what's up here.

I think "the team of trolls" is supposed to be you and I (plus Bud Bud?) I don't read nor analyze "all of his comments" and am not about to start. I was honestly just thinking something was in French, but "OMG!" my limited (LOL, if only) education didn't have the reference. I'm not the only one not to, in over 8 billion people, who all learnt different things in different places and languages, with different focuses! Which is why I say it's often best stick to your own language on an anonymous chat to avoid misunderstandings.
