No note whether this is the remastered version (2008) or the previous release. The avi format indicates this is likely a very old rip.

I just want to say I hate HEVC! Just my opinion. It only works on the DIVX player and works on NO BluRay Player either. I have Samsung and Sony players which play every format MKV,AVI,MP4,FLV,M4V...etc BUT NOT HEVC!! And this new audio codec Opus?!! Hate it!! I personally favor the MKV format though because of small file size and high video quality! I must say these files are exceptionally high quality even for AVI,and the sound is AWESOME! I'm a die hard Star Trek fan especially the original,and I'm very grateful to the uploader!! You made my whole day!! Thanks so much!

A message to anyone else who thinks they're "Low quality" I say just download 1 episode and check it out. The episodes looked great on my computer and PERFECT on my BluRay home theater system,sound is fantastic! Trust me these are not "Low quality" and worth downloading! After trying about 5 different torrents,and other sources these are up there with the best I've seen,plus the other sources didn't add the extra's!

What I'm waiting on,and my greatest wish come true is that the producers FINALLY do this series in 16.9 aspect,not the old 4.3! The when the whole scene fills the entire screen that will be truly stunning!! This show in my opinion is the greatest show in t.v. history,and it deserves the best modern upgrades!

@ChrisMac71
You should understand MKV is just a container for the file not a codec,so you can HEVC(x265)-MKV x254-MKV.
The industry always takes time to catch up with the latest file formats, HEVC(x265) plays great on computers and other support devices,i use it for their small file size, when on the road or overseas.
For home on the the big screen you would a file as close to the original (little to zero compression)as possible, i recommend a direct copy of a Blu-ray or DVD as this has been formatted by the the movie companies to give you the best viewing experience for at home viewing. (purists dont agree*)
Unfortunately many dont have the storage capacity for the huge files 4.3Gig+ hence the popularity of sites like this.
So pick the biggest size you can deal with in file format you like would be one answer.

@ChrisMac71

The old Star Trek series were shot in 4:3 so they can't be shown in 16:9 unless you remove much of the top and bottom of the video and/or you stretch it. Note that in many video players there is a setting where you can play a 4.3 video in a full 16:9 mode. IT doesn't look good IMO, but that's pretty much as good as it gets if you want 16:9 from a 4:3 source.
