btw, the x265 cue hasn't worked right since they they updated the server. It can be empty for hours, yet x265 files keep showing up.

My guess is an admin reset the CFR level in the encoder. I'll be better able to confirm when I watch episodes 6+. Hopefully quality increases. The x264 rips seem very compressed. I saw a lot of blockiness, especially in dark scenes.

I just checked Impulse.S01E09.They.Know.Not.What.They.Do.720p.RED.WEB-DL.AAC5.1.VP9-NTb.mkv and the bit rate is 965 kb/s. That's OK for x265 but seems low for x264.

No worries, as that requires the rate frequency to prevent further anomalies during the attenuated playback phase process, such as with resynchronization of the track. Now, some reconfiguration of the sequencer settings might do that locally, but we run the risk of output fluctuations, regardless of any variable phase decompressions.

Agreed. They always seemed to have a good bitrate. However, I did always suspect their web-dl were simply renamed web rips, because they were always exactly the same size. I suppose that didn't matter much as the quality always seemed good.

Perhaps YouTube is simply serving the episodes at a low bitrate. TBS' captures are about the same size as NTb.
