GPRS and the ridicules size downloads. When you can get the same quality at 1 gb. What a loser! Go somewhere else!

@timt and @serafino : if you have eyes and read in the file name , "web-dl" = it means it is straight from the streaming source, or "untouched", if big file size, it's because of disneyplus, not because of gprs;
if gprs had to re-encode to smaller size, in the file it would be "webrip" instead of "web-dl"

@ffilou6 Wasn't a question about the Type. Dumb ass! A statement about the large download size. A waste of storage space.

@ffilou6
You have no idea what a WEB-DL is as opposed to a WEBRip.
WEB-DLs come from Amazon, etc, in the form of a download (encrypted MP4). Converted to something we can all use (*unencripted .mkv or .mp4).
WEBRips come from the internet (FX, CW, etc). They often have a logo at the bottom of the screen.
Groups like Flux take what is available and tweak it then release the file. They tend to be big for the sake of quality.
You'll notice the SuccessfulCrab release is the exact same size as the FLUX release, because they come from the same exact source.
The major difference between releases and groups will be what audio file they choose to include or if a subtitle pack or 2nd audio language file etc. added. Many choose the exact same (best quality).
If you want something smaller, perhaps another group will re-encode the larger release to something smaller. There will be some quality loss.

@Kenny

Thanks for the web-dl/webrip explanation. I never knew. However, idk what file you're on about here, but succesfulcrab doesn't always have just a large size, seems I seen files of his released in a choice of sizes, no?

@Kenny

HO@ didn't realize I was on the page itself! Makes sense I guess that if you;re working an old file you'd try to get the best quality... to start with. But yup, for the sake of storage it's nice when smaller files are re-encoded. It's not like we all have home cinemas to even appreciate the quality

I was replying to the "Davy Crockett and the River Pirates" conversation. I used Flux and SuccessfulCrab as examples.
I'm not sure, but GPRS could have sourced this themselves and converted it. Something I've never done.
It's never much fun to listen to someone complain about the file size being too big. They almost always get re-encoded to a smaller size. Not sure this one will though considering. Not something I'm going to download at any file size, so I'm not bothered.
